Lyfe Jennings releases controversial new single ‘Statistics’

Lyfe Jennings has released the controversial new single Statistics, which will be featured on his fourth, and said-to-be last, studio album I Still Believe. The album will be released through his own label, Jesus Swings, via Asylum/Warner Bros Records on July 27.

In his blunt but truthful style, Jennings breaks down the statistics about men and offers some rules women should follow to be with the 10% worth having.

“According to Lyfe, “25% of all men are unstable, 25% of all men can’t be faithful, 30% of them don’t mean what they say and the 10% of the remaining 20 is gay. That leaves you a 10% chance of ever finding your mate, that means you better pay attention to these words that I say I’m going teach you how to expose the 90% and show you what to do to keep the other 10.”

I get what he’s trying to do, as I get what Steve Harvey tried to do with his book (which I didn’t read) but I just can’t. Yes, we as women should respect ourselves. Yes, we should demand respect when it isn’t given and we should know our own value. But really, a song about statistics?? I don’t see myself EVER saying, “Well Lyfe said…”. Naw, that’s not going to happen for me, and I don’t think it will for many other women either. However, I could be wrong…I mean I’m not knocking him. I guess his heart is in the right place and he’s trying to open people’s eyes, but no…just no.

Whatever happened to men doing BETTER! Why do women have to become Sherlock Holmes and jump through hoops? Why don’t men ever work on themselves to make it easier for them to have the woman that they deserve, so that they can be happy, truthful, etc instead of labeling themselves as unstable, unfaithful, dishonest, etc. It seems like men are comfortable with being horrible people, and leave it to women to do all the work…It’s like men blame women for their own problems. Be more than a MAN and DO BETTER!!

Listen to the words…there so much truth in what he is saying. If a man has not grown up with a father, when and from whom did he learn how to become a man. Thats a REAL issue nowadays and we can bury our head in the sand but the reality is, HE wont do better if he’s never been taught what better is in a relationship. Thank you Lyfe for the lesson. I don’t know that accuracy of his statistics but I do know that the marriage rate for black women is 25%…so there must be some truth to what he is saying.

Whatever you have to do to do Better Get’er done or be satisfied with being a creep. Get a mentor, watch the Cosby’s, read the Bible, something…there are many good men out there with no father. Acknowledge the problem then Fix It! I know waaaay too many men who know their issues and can talk about them all day inside and out with profound insight and accuracy, but when it comes time to do BETTER..even though they are miserable with their life decisions…when you ask Ok but then what…you get excuses, defense mechanisms, and/or crickets.

I guess he studied sociology in prison… Stop listening to musicians and comedians for relationship advice.
